Events Marking the Launching of Peculiar Sisters in Liberia
Written by Mrs. Thelma Koneh on Her recent visit to Liberia.
March 5th program in Liberia was a big success even though we didn’t get to hold our banners in the streets to do the actual march.
For leadership in attendance
We had Anita and and husband, Pastor Porte and Myself.
We had over 50 people in attendance including the boys group that later joined us.
We had an indoor program, luckily we did, because the rain that fell that day was no joke.
At the program, there was an introduction and an overview of what Peculiar Sisters Mission Statement was all about and how we intended to grown the network in Liberia
Keynote address was given by me.
And it focused on what it means to give meaning to your Life.
I highlighted on 5 points. Anita focus talked on Violence against women and the need for us to make our voices heard
The boys group leader spoke about the importance of young men understanding the need to stop violence against women and how they can spread the word amongst their fellow young men. The kids were very interactive, they asked reasonable questions and were engaging.
They wanted to know a lot of ways they can all contribute to stopping Violence not just against women but also boys and men. Next we concluded the program with some light refreshments and dismissed with stickers pass out with our mission statement even though there wasn’t enough printed. But overall it was a wonderful and beautiful program.
